August 18th - Federation of Community Councils Meeting
The project team provided a brief update to the Federation of Community Councils at their regular meeting in August. About 14 area council representatives attended this FCC meeting, and the team explained that they were coming before the Federation because Russian Jack Springs Park is of regional significance and use. The update included an introduction of the Corvus team, explained that project funding was directed to the Anchorage Parks Foundation, and described continued coordination with MOA Parks and Recreation and others. The team summarized the July planning events and the input received to date. The top five ways the community current uses the park include (in order of most frequent to least frequent) – Biking, walking, soccer, softball and off-lease dog park. The top five ways “you want to use the park” included: destination playground, climbing wall, relaxing places, skate park, cooking facilities.
