We presented at the Urban Design Commission Public Hearing last night. We provided about 10 minutes of information to the commission, answered questions and heard testimony from members of the public. The commission voted unanimously to approve the project with staff recommendations.
Within our presentation we provided a brief history of the project including a summary of our public outreach and process, and an overview of the improvements that are planned for the site. An exciting piece of information we were able to share is that the project is partnering with MOA Watershed Management to use the parking lot as a case study for Low Impact development (LID). This means that an area of the parking lot will be a trial for pervious asphalt pavement, and the parking lot will also be provided with an underground percolation system. In laypersons' terms, this means that stormwater will be dealt with on-site and will not be put into the city's stormwater system.
We also shared a few images of where the design is for the play components of the project. Below are the four updated graphics that we provided directly to the commission last night.
