- bouncy house (weather dependent)
- a Youth Employment in Parks crew to lead a variety of games and activities for youth & children
- frisbee golf demonstration (try it out!)
- various crafts to help youth & children show us what they might like their park to look like (including sidewalk chalk and modeling materials)
- information and summary about the public planning process to date
- materials to help the public provide input and comment (including comment sheets, and a number of image boards where people will be given stickers to be able to show us what they particularly like)
- snacks and refreshments
We hope to see you there!
CORVUS should be handing out are copies of the 1979 Master Plan and the later Site plan so that everyone can see that the municipality and the Parks Foundation have consistently ignored all planning for this park and have side-stepped planning documents for impulse development whenever they wished. This has to come to an end. Let's spend the Million now available on updating the Master Plan and addressing the Plan's mandates, NOT doing another run-around that is intended to disenfranchise the public.
ReplyDeleteSTOP the SCAM, FUND the MASTER PLAN.
If you want open spaces (not everyone does, and RJSP is a regional, NOT a community, park intended to preserve urban forest aesthetics) then perhaps we should comply with the Master Plan and shut down the Golf Course. That wold leave lots of space for Frisbee Golf and other outdoor open space activities now barred lest one get brained with a speeding golf ball.) You want the Golf Course to stay, then amend the plan or face litigation.....
BTW, for those who don't know the bone fides of those involved, the Parks Foundation and the RJCC were party to the effort to use these funds to clearcut dozens of acres of the Park for a "driving range" to benefit a handful of people, the state budget item proposals for the funds, which say they were approved by the community, never passed through the MOA CIP approval process and were only taken up with one community council which rarely has more than a handful of persons appearing.
DO NOT BE CO-OPTED! Tell the Foundation you want planning to mean something; either comply with the Master Plan or alter it, and then follow it!
