Due to several committee members’ unavailability for the first scheduled meeting on December 15th – we will be postponing the first meeting until January 19th at 6 PM at Williwaw Elementary.
For those people that have volunteered, reminders will be sent closer to the date.

First off, Parks and Rec in their Proposed 2011 CIP Budget (really a misnomer as it does not reflect the proposed budget but the proposed budget requests) indicated that P&R was seeking $250,000 in GO bonds and $500,000 in State grants to, wait for it, pick up where they left off with plans to turn south RJSP inside out! No mention in the detail page that as this would require the expenditure of several hundred thousands of dollars in planning that the current administration has refused to spend though it is available off-budget, the only way the project can move forward is by simply ignoring the Resolution of the Park Commission!
ReplyDeleteAnd now that you understand the mindset of the current Administration (I don't understand why Sullivan Chief of Staff Larry Baker doesn't respond to my e-mails anymore...) it gives the now inaccurate documents referenced by Suzanne new clarity. The documents refer to planning for "the park" while Parks and Rec has made it clear (apparently on orders from the Foundation, our local park puppeteer) that the Committee will not be allowed to address the needs of "the Park", which is a 300 acre regional park situated north AND south of DeBarr Rd. (not a Neighborhood Park, as is suggested by the Anchorage Parks Foundation at http://www.anchorageparkfoundation.org/directory/russianjack.htm)
Additionally, there are apparently anti vandalism funds that haven't been discussed that are specifically targeted at "sprucing up" RJSP.
Wouldn't it be nice if Parks and Rec was, oh...., transparent?
